The City of Longview will offer Tire Recycling on Saturday, October 3, 2009. A drop-off location will be provided from 8 a.m. – noon at 200 W. Cotton St. This is located at the corner of Cotton St. and Horaney St., directly north of the Longview Public Library. City staff will be available to assist with unloading. This service is free for Longview residents and is available for non-commercial users only. Participants must bring a Longview water bill to show proof of residency.
The event is a combined effort between the Environmental Health Division and the Parks and Recreation Department. Proper tire disposal is critical to the health and safety our community. Among several potential hazards, unused tires collect water and become breeding sites for mosquitoes. Citizens are encouraged to use this opportunity to discard unwanted tires at no charge.
This event is not in conjunction with extra trash pickup for large items, limbs, etc. The City of Longview provides three Tire Recycling Days throughout the year.
Tire recycling is offered three times each year: the first Saturday of April, the last Saturday of July, and the first Saturday of October.
